Blessing.

Identifying blessing

We live in a generation where ‘blessing’ is often time used word. So often we use this word so much that we lose the real meaning of the word. Today, even when you sneeze you will hear someone will say “bless you”

Incase you didn’t know that this is actually develop out of superstitious, because when someone sneeze, they believe that the dark one' will come and catch them so by saying ‘bless you’ hoping that the dark one will not take them away. So in way trying to rebuke the curse away.

We as human have term 'blessing' differently.

 

 

The question now is, do you know what it really mean? Do you know the meaning of blessing in biblical term?

 

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (blessings on obedience)

1.       “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His Commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.

2.       “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.

 

Let’s accept the fact that God want to bless you.

This mean that God have restored blessing for you. The bible say “if God is with us, who can be against us”

 

 

 

So how do we know if the blessing is from God?

This is when we received something through obedient. Most people think that when they received increase in salary is a blessing, but no, increase does not mean blessing.

From the following scripture, we will see that God already gave us the understanding of the word ‘blessing’ mean.

 

Once again, increase that does not come with obedient is not a blessing. Just because you have cheat, lied or bribe and you received increase (that is NOT blessing) Today generation, people like to called themselves blessed when actually they are not bless and even everyone can see that yet they try to convince themselves and everyone else that they are blessed.

 

Deuteronomy  28:31-33 (curses of disobidient)

31. ‘Your ox shall be slaughtered before your eyes, but you shall not eat of it ; your donkey shall be violently taken away from you, and you shall not be restored to you ; your sheep shall be given to your enemies and you shall have no one to rescue them.

32. Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all day long, and there shall be no strength in your hand.

33. “ A nation whom you have not known shall eat the fruit of your land and the produce of your labor, and you shall be only oppressed and crushed continually.

 

So what the scripture says? Does God say you will not receive increase even if you disobedient? NO, YOU WILL STILL RECEIVED INCREASE BUT IT WILL NOT LAST. Once again, if the increase didn’t come with obedient, you shall not called yourself blessed. Your fruits will grow but stranger/people will take it away from you.

Deuteronomy 28: 30

30. You shall betroth a wife, but another men shall lie with her, you shall build a house, but you shall not dwell in it, you shall plant a vineyard, but shall not gather its grapes.

 

For example, tithes. As Christians, we need to pay 10% of our income to God, well you may try to give less than you should thinking God will understand and yes you will still see increase, but your increase will never last, it will eventually go away.

 

As believer, we believe that only God can bless us, (not our boss not our friends or anyone else) simply because God owns everything. Do you not know that even the wicked see increase.

4 characteristic if your blessing is from God.

1)      God's protection.

As Christian we know obedient is not easy, but the reward of blessing from God is something you cannot buy with money.

 

Deuteronomy 28:7

7. “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face ; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

13. “And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail ; you shall be above and only, and not beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.

14. “So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other Gods to serve them.

 

So now if I say I am blessed, for example I have RM1 in my pocket, God will protect me and it will never lose. God will protect your increase your family etc.

But the disobedient, will encounter losing their belongings/ money to stranger/medical-needs/ police and etc. so don’t go around and say you are blessed if you didn’t received protection.

 

People nowadays pay a lot on securities, internet security so people will not get information about us. But God will provide these if you are obedient to him. (amen?)

 

2.       God will provide provision for you.

God will command blessing in your storehouse. (Deuteronomy 28:8)
what is the good thing here is that, storehouse where you will keep all stuff for the 'raining' days. God even provide that. More than you could ever think?

 

3.       God is with you.

(Deuteronomy 28:9)

“I received a million dollar of blessing but I cannot go to church for a year”
 

This is not a blessing. Blessing shall not take you away from God. If it is a blessing. It will bring you closer to Him. Devil can also give you increase.

 

Curse is when God does not want to be involve with you.

Blessing is when God want to be involve in your life. Remember, God always want to be involve in your life.

 

 

4.       You will have favour in men.

People will looked at you and see you are blessed. You will have your breakthrough, loving family.

( Deuteronomy 28 :12 )

 

Conclusion : you are blessed when God grant you His protection, His provision, His presence and favour in people.
