Batam trip PART 1
Day 1
Hello, here's my experience when I visit Batam, Indonesia. I think it's really helpful to share a blog entry like this, because sometimes I plan to visit a country backpack style and yet unsure where to eat the best food and where to get best price for stuff.
Here it goes:
Brothers, mom and I took taxi from Johor to stulang laut, The Zon.
Bought ticket to & fro Batam RM81
They have service every 30 minutes starting from 8am-6pm
Journey will take 1 hours 45 minutes.
Stulang laut jetty.
The view beside window in the ferry.
Watch the sky turn dark as we reaching Batam, passing by Singapore.
When we reach Batam, it is one hour earlier than Malaysia.
So Malaysia time 6pm is Batam 5pm.
Time travel yo :P
As we reach Batam, we are host by Eliz. We then headed to our accommodation at I Hotel Baloi.
Each time we pass by the security house, they will use this metal mirror detector to detect any illegal object like boom.
The lobby of the hotel, a newly open hotel. RM300 per night. Actually you can get a cheaper accommodation there. But for comfort purpose, we stay here.
Triple room and queen size bed room.
This is one side of our room :D
forgot to take entire room. well, who's care kan :P
Before I continue my story, here how Rupiah currency looks like.
RM1= Rupee 3000
Food here cost RM3-4 only tho the money sound so huge. People here use to say 1-3 digit only instead of whole thousand at the back.
We had our dinner at JUMBO Thai restaurant which is 10 minutes away from Hotel.
JUMBO THAI KITCHEN
Harbour bay block R
No.11
We receive 20% food discount because it's open by Elize's friend.
People here are really nice, the country itself is very clean just like Singapore. ;P
I have learn that Batam people send congrats or happy wishes in a board form. In Malaysia, we give flower to congrats someone for their newly open shop kan.
Baby CUMI (sotong) Rp 40,000
Sup Tomyam Rp 120,000
Baby Kailan Rp80,000
Kulit Ikan Garing (salmon fried skin) Rp90,000

Oh yes it's mom's bday. Mom celebrate her bday at Batam.
When getting the pass at Batam Custom, mom was like "yay I got a birthday chop"
Aw, ok. Happy Birthday Mom!!
After that, we had cafe hunt session. It's called Bangi kopi.
A nice renovated cafe. It's a Penang style cafe.
(Photo taken the next morning as we pass by the shop because last night was too dark)
