How Much Is Enough

Back to those day when we were younger, we will always say 'give me' when we see sweets, snacks and food. Even after given one, we will still say “give me some more”

Even as adult now, we will like to have what our eyes sees. Let’s say buffet, people will take more than they could even consume or more than they usually take.

HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH

1 timothy 6:9-10
9. Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

When we want something so much in life, we often twist the plot to our side by giving excuse and reasoning and think there is nothing wrong to gain more in that particular area. Especially in term of money, those asset, wealth, possession and so on.  They say “when someone have a millions, he will want another millions. People always want more and SO how much is enough?

The sin of greed have always place us in a situation to sin towards one another and also cause us to lose connection with God. Anything we crave besides God, we are already making it an idol.

When people really want something, doesn’t matter whether it is righteous or regarding their honesty, he will do it.

A research was carried out as described in 1991.
“What will you do if you are given 10 millions usd.”

Abandoned their family 25%
Abandoned their church 25%
Prostitute for a week (men & women) 23%
Give up American citizenship 16%
leave their spouse 16%
give testimony to let a murderer free 10%
murder a stranger 10%
put their children for adoption 10%

It was statistic based on research back in 1991. How about now in this current era.

There are people who are busy earning to pay off their property in their hand. Isn’t one house is enough to have a shade over our family?  When we want people to approve that we are trending, we are fit, we are popular… greedy people are generally stubborn even when people advised them. “there is no harm for being greed” they said. Especially Christian, we will say "God will understand" or “God, I will serve you when I gain my 1st million”

There’s a story of greedy man.
Two friend met on the street, one looked very sad and wanting to commit suicide. So another friend say “Hey my friend, how come you look like the whole world is falling down”

so the sad fellow say “let me tell you, 3 weeks ago an uncle died and pass me 50 000usd
so the friend reply “that’s not bad at all”
hold on, I am just getting started, that was 3 weeks ago. So 2 weeks ago a cousin that I never knew gave me 90 000usd” said the sad friend.
so another friend reply  “great! that will be great if it happen to me.”
and last week, my grandfather passed away and inherited a millions dollar to me
“hmm so why are you so sad and troubled?”
Because this week, nobody passed away

Gaining more, is losing more. When you think you are gaining more, you are actually lose out. We lose out when we didn’t ask God, how much is enough. How often do we ask God if this is the way God want us to live. If there is better job with better pay, but busier schedule that we don’t have time for God. When we have one house, is it wise to get another house.

Stop saying "God will understand my position”

But your action defined your relationship with God.

When we try to get recognized by people.

When we were younger, kid will dare us to do something for money sake. “I dare you to throw eggs at your neighbour for rm10”

Well, adult now are doing it too. Just look at the fear factor, people will jump into a buffalo blood pool full of toad and when they pass that level they have to get to the next level which cause them to eat or drink some ridiculous stuff and so on for the final prize of 50000usd. They don’t even bother how people will see them, why will you want to do that for such amount. You look foolish.

Philippians 2:4
Let each of you look out not only for his own interest but also for the interest of others.

Simplicity in life bring contentment. Life is not as complicated as we think.

Its not God who made it difficult but the greed.

You will not need a rm200 toothbrush.

People just unable to let go their property even when they are in big load to pay those properties.

hm.
